More than we could ever conceive has brought us to this day. This triumphant day is our gift from God. Psalm 118, verse 24 reminds us and sings perfectly that “on this day, the Lord has acted; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” The Savior of the World has taken away our sins, offers to share in our brokenness, and lives forever to reconcile the human condition and the world with God. What was endured and overcome by our Lord on behalf of all people of God cannot be contained. In response to a holy challenge from our Diocesan Bishop, The Right Reverend Michael B. Curry, we now must “Go Speak!” by “Sharing Our Faith.”
It is my hope that your receipt of the gift of the Resurrection will move you to renew or engage your time, talents, treasures, and your whole self into life at St. Peter’s or in whichever faith community is available to you. Moreover, I bid you to invite others to share the journey with you and us—a spiritual journey bound to bring blessing amid a rather busy, crazy, and sacred world. Together, we all can explore God.
On behalf of St. Peter’s Vestry (lay leadership council), I am especially grateful at Easter time for all gifts that have been contributed to this place. If you have not made a 2014 financial pledge to support our ministries and historical presence at the corner of North Tryon and West Seventh streets, please complete an “Easter Gift Card” to leave in the offering plate or offer your gift online today at www.st-peters.org. If you are new to St. Peter’s and wish to support us financially, we will be grateful for your thoughtfulness.
St. Peter’s vision is to become a community of bold followers of Jesus, a crowd that effects good change for the world, a place known for radical love and welcome, and a beacon of hope in Center City Charlotte. I look forward to celebrating the Great 50 Days of Easter and serving with you to fulfill our vision—in thanksgiving for the gift of the Resurrection.
