As Director of Ministry Development, I have the opportunity to talk with people who want to begin the process of joining St. Peter’s. Whether from another denomination or from another Episcopal Church, I enjoy assisting them in finding ways to be a part of life at St. Peter’s.
“What are your expectations for someone who is a member of the church?”
Recently, I was asked this question by a young man. My response? To attend church services regularly, to participate in ministry offerings and formation classes, and to contribute financially to all that is required to keep us going.
There are many opportunities for worship, service and fellowship in and through this parish. Life at St. Peter’s, our new publication listing fall programs and events, is very helpful in describing groups serving this parish and our community as well as listing upcoming events.
How can one get involved to help spread the Kingdom of God? For some people, it is participating in worship by being Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Acolytes, or Altar Guild members. For some, it is arranging flowers at the altar. Others are called to work with children and youth or to help with fellowship offerings. Perhaps you have an idea for a group that is not offered here at the church, maybe one that you enjoyed in another church.
How “will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ”? (Baptismal service, The Book of Common Prayer)
Come talk with me about it.
