Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
Life is a pilgrimage.
As we navigate the many ordinary paths we take daily on our journey through life, we look with anticipation to the special travels or pilgrimages we are blessed to have among the ordinary paths we navigate daily. The Journey to Adulthood Pilgrimage is just such a blessing for our youth.
The Youth and their adult leaders are most grateful to St. Peter’s for its many ways of supporting us, especially your support of the J2A Pilgrimage, taken at the end of tenth/eleventh grade. These youthful pilgrims do not take this gift lightly. They study for a year to determine their pilgrimage destination. Once they’ve decided upon their destination, they dedicate the following year to learning about the saints who lived there, the places and special sites they will visit, and about the culture and customs where they will journey. They also learn much about themselves, their own spirituality, and how to maintain these experiences, knowledge, and soul-changes in their hearts afterward.
While on pilgrimage, our youth truly experience and make every attempt to live into the old adage, “tourists make demands, pilgrims give thanks.”
In hopes of thanking you, our Pilgrim Class of 2015, who journeyed together through Spain in June, will present a program to share with you some of what they learned and lived while on pilgrimage and during their year of preparation. Please join us in the Parish Hall on Sunday, November 22, at 9:30 am, and hear about how you have changed the lives of these fourteen youth and four adult pilgrims through your generous support.
Also, as the Pilgrim Class of 2017 begins preparation for their pilgrimage, we invite you to do your Advent and Christmas shopping at our Pilgrimage fund-raiser on Sundays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm November 22, 29, and December 6, in the Parish House Lobby.
