Someone once told me that there was special place for Parish Administrators. I didn’t think too much about the comment until sometime later. As the PA, I carry the responsibility for business operations, finance, human resources, and staff and volunteer management. I should tell you that I love my job. I enjoy being challenged daily and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day when I believe I’ve been able to support our staff, parishioners, or volunteers. I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to grow and learn alongside such wonderful and insightful coworkers, as well as interacting with parishioners.
Now, let’s talk business. The program year is gearing up and the calendar is filling up with exciting activities and formation opportunities. Watch for the final calendar of events coming out at the beginning of September. The building is abuzz as our wonderful staff cleans the facilities and preps for projects to improve the functionality and efficiency of the building operations. Some of you are probably aware that we have battled roof leaks for years and we are happy to report that, thanks to the help of Endowment funds, we’ve completed the work to address the leaky roof and windows. We continue to investigate the options for improving the sound quality in the Church and in the Parish Hall. Hopefully, we’ll be able to complete the heating and air conditioning upfit in the basement so our youth and music department can be more comfortable in their spaces.
And, finally, a bit of fun. Please join us Sunday, August 21, for the St. Peter’s Choir’s big BBQ fundraiser. We will be selling plates and to-go boxes of Kyle Fletcher’s famous BBQ with buns, slaw, beans, a bag of chips, and even dessert. Also that Sunday, we welcome folks to join us at the hospitality tent for Charlotte Pride Parade, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. And that morning, join us at 9:30 a.m. for our confirmation class, “Becoming Episcopalian,” or in the evening at 5:00 p.m. for Taizé and the final Saints in the Summer.
