It is hard to believe that it was just a year ago that we last gathered, in person, at our annual Serenade Gala for The Choir School. This event has long been one of our most important fundraising efforts for The Choir School. Serenade is an evening of fun, food, and music, all to benefit our mission: to strengthen young lives through excellent, rigorous music education, and choral performance.
That mission has continued in the midst of the many challenges of this year. As we planned for what we knew would be an unusual season, it became clear that Serenade needed to be part of that season. Though it will look different this year, Serenade 2021 will once again bring together friends of The Choir School, whose support is what continues to make our important work possible. We are excited to share our plans with you, and we hope you will plan to join us.
Serenade will consist of three virtual events starting on March 10 at 9:00 p.m. with a Trivia Night hosted by Executive Director, Davis Tapp, so put up your feet and bring your smarts for this exciting evening. You’ll join a trivia team with our special guest captains, and face off for bragging rights and prizes from Charlotte-area breweries. This casual, interactive evening is a great way to see some familiar faces and test your knowledge! Plus, every correct answer helps support The Choir School—and that’s a no-brainer.
On March 21 at 5:30 p.m., join The Choir School for a special tasting from some of Charlotte’s finest gourmet purveyors. Our neighbors at Seventh Street Market Rachel Klebaur of Ormann’s Cheese Shop and Josh Villapando of The Assorted Table Wine Shoppe host this exclusive and interactive wine and cheese seminar hosted by Adam Santalla Pierce. You’ll learn from the best as you try great cheeses and exciting wines. The happy hour event is capped off with a tasting of chocolates from local artisans Pott’s Chocolate. If you’re a seasoned foodie, or you’re just getting into the gourmet life, you’re sure to enjoy this interactive class where we’ll toast to the future of The Choir School.
Finally, on March 25 at 6:30 p.m., grab a seat on your couch for an intimate evening full of music. Tanja Bechtler and the Bechtler Ensemble join The Choir School for a special live performance from Uptown Charlotte in support of our mission. This special one-night concert event will feature musical favorites you’re sure to enjoy. You’ll start your evening with our “Bites Box” featuring small bites and great wine from long-time Choir School supporters La-tea-da’s Catering. The night continues with virtual choir performances from The MasterSingers, and opportunities to support the Choir’s mission of accessible, excellent music education.
We hope you will join us for all three events, but you may buy individual event tickets as well!
