Discovery Night at The Choir School

Despite the challenges of the past year, the Choir School has remained dedicated to its mission: To enrich and strengthen young lives through excellent, rigorous music education, and choral performance. We have adapted our program to continue to meet the needs of our young singers, moving rehearsals online, creating opportunities for performance through virtual choir projects, and meeting one-on-one with choristers for individual theory sessions and vocal coaching. Our children and youth have proved themselves to be exceptionally resilient and adaptable, rising to the challenges of singing during a pandemic, and have shown a remarkable commitment to continuing to make music together.

As we begin to work towards more in-person offerings for our choristers, we are looking forward to our 2021-2022 program year with great excitement. With vaccines widely available, we are hopeful that we are well on our way to being able to gather to sing again. We are excited to welcome back returning choristers for choir camp and retreat in August and we are actively recruiting new choristers to join them.

Excellence and accessibility are core values at The Choir School. We are committed to offering high-quality music education and performance opportunities to singers from throughout the region, regardless of their ability to contribute financially. Our choristers perform throughout Charlotte in Choir School concerts and in special events through our partnerships with other arts organizations. They also tour domestically every year. Every four years, our teenage choir, the MasterSingers, serves as the resident choir for a week at an English cathedral.

Our annual Discovery Night is an opportunity for potential choristers and their families to come and learn more about the Choir School program. We will have an informational meeting, held in the nave, as well as open auditions that evening. Health and safety protocols will be strictly enforced, including masking and physical distancing. Because of these precautions, we are requiring pre-registration for interested families.

Discovery Night is Tuesday, May 25 from 6:00–7:00 p.m. Learn more and register online
If you know a child who loves to sing, we hope that you will encourage them to come learn more about the Choir School.
