We are very excited to open registration for our Parish Retreat to Kanuga, November 12-14, 2021! In 2018 we had to cancel because of a hurricane, and in 2020 we had to cancel because it was the very beginning of the Covid pandemic. But this year, we’re finally going! The timing couldn’t be more perfect as we will be in the mountains at the height of the fall leaves season. It should be beautiful!
For those who have never been to Kanuga, it is a wonderful Episcopal retreat center in the mountains of Hendersonville, NC. Our time together will include fellowship, prayer, programming for all ages, and of course free time to explore Kanuga’s beautiful grounds. The fall weather will be perfect for hiking, bonfires, and hanging out on porches in the evenings.
Please rest assured that we will follow all covid protocols in place at that time. We also plan to do as much outside as possible. We want this to be a safe and fun weekend for everyone!
Just in case you need additional convincing to sign up, St. Peter’s parishioner Katie Nelson shares what Kanuga means to her family:
Kanuga holds a special place in my heart. I started going to Kanuga with St. Peters as a child and it was a place of freedom and discovery. As a child, Kanuga was infamous for the long hours of uninterrupted play with my “church friends”, crafts, dancing, singing, and, of course, staying up way past bedtime for the late-night porch parties. As an adult, Kanuga is a place to slow down, disconnect from the world (put your cell phone away), connect with your parish family, make new church friends, and time to connect with God. When we were engaged, I introduced my husband to Kanuga and I have been excitedly waiting to introduce my daughter Gracie to the wonder of Kanuga. I hope to have all of you join us for the fun, adventure, and relaxation of the St. Peter’s Parish Retreat to Kanuga.
