Shrimp & Suds

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. — Acts 2:42

We’re Back! It is so good to be back in person with our youth in our classrooms. Our youth were incredibly faithful in attending Journey to Adulthood classes via Zoom for the last 18 months, but we are all thrilled to be back at St. Peter’s each Sunday morning (masked, of course). We began the new year with our customary beach retreat, a wonderful way to get reacquainted, meet new leaders, and worship. We also discussed issues of importance and had a bit of fun and fellowship in the sun. We followed strict COVID protocols and required testing on arrival.

We look forward to a more “normal” Journey to Adulthood year, with in-person classes each Sunday morning, learning and bonding events twice a month, and the joy of our youth serving as acolytes again.

We are also excited to revive our pilgrimage fundraising traditions. Join us on Saturday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m., for Shrimp & Suds our popular fellowship event for adult parishioners and friends. This rooftop event features a delicious Low Country Shrimp Boil, cooked by youth leader Harris Holt and his team of seasoned cooks. We’ll serve beer from North Carolina craft brewers, wine, and soft drinks to go along with appetizers, the shrimp dinner, grits, French bread, and dessert. We will have volunteers serving the food, following Diocesan safety protocols. Email Lyn Holt ( if you have plant-based or other dietary preferences. The cost for this event is $30 per person. We can seat 90 people, so please get your reservations in quickly. You can reserve your tickets by emailing me or through our website at

Finally, the youth and I want to thank you for your generous support of this program, especially our youth pilgrimage. As the leaders and I prepare for the new year, we are filled with hope for our summer 2023 pilgrimage and the spiritual and self-growth that comes with preparing for and making a holy pilgrimage. Just over 100 youth pilgrims and 37 adult leaders have experienced the spiritual joy that comes from Holy Pilgrimage. Your generosity and love of our youth have made this possible.

In gratitude,
Lyn Holt, Director of Youth Formation
