Toni Moore has belonged to St. Peter’s for more than four decades. She is pictured here on Re-engagement Sunday with fellow parishioner Phyllis Ferguson.

“St. Peter’s is important to this community because it’s always been a place that makes good things happen. From the Good Samaritan Hospital to the soup kitchen, the Choir School to the Augustine Literacy Project, St. Peter’s has a long history of seeing a need and responding to it. Today, all of those organizations continue to do their good work on a much larger scale, but St. Peter’s is where they began. We’ve always been a church of service and stewardship, and it’s important that we continue the legacy. That’s what we’re doing when we make a pledge – we’re continuing the legacy.”

Davis Tapp became a parishioner at St. Peter’s in 2018. He also serves as Executive Director of Charlotte Choir School, the acclaimed music education program in residence at St. Peter’s.

“I have spent my entire professional life raising money for non-profit organizations and I know how valuable a pledge can be. However, I’ve never thought of making a pledge of financial support to our parish to be about dollars and cents. At St. Peter’s, pledging is an expression of faith in God’s presence and abiding love for all people. I give to St. Peter’s so I can help spread the Good News of Christ not just through words, but through action.”

Jason Gingras and his husband, Kyle, have been members of St. Peter’s since 2017. Their family includes their son, Breton, whom they adopted in 2020.

“St. Peter’s is the first faith community where Kyle and I have felt comfortable getting involved in ministry because we can be our authentic true selves in Christ. We love that St. Peter’s has a traditional liturgy and a parish mission that is focused on social justice causes which we are passionate about. I was received into the Episcopal Church back in 2017 at St. Peter’s, we were married at St. Peter’s on October 6, 2018, and our son was baptized this year on the Feast of the Lord’s Baptism. We give back to St. Peter’s with our time, talent, and treasure because we have received so much already in faith, ministry, and from being part of a loving community of believers.””

Lauren and her husband David joined St. Peter’s in 2017. Their daughter Hazel was born in 2019.

“My husband David and I met in college choir 20 years ago, so when we came to Charlotte naturally we were drawn to St. Peter’s and its exceptional music. Now we invest in this beautiful, diverse faith community by joining voices with our choir family. And with our young daughter Hazel about to be baptized here, we are further committed to show her how we value giving “time, talent, and treasure” to our church home.”

Cathy Morrison and her husband Micah have been members of St. Peter’s since 2007. Their family includes their two young children.

Having architectural backgrounds, Micah and I were immediately drawn to the beauty of the building and traditions of St. Peter’s. Eventually though, we began to understand how important the community had become to us, and we wanted to invest ourselves in it. That’s when our connection became much deeper than just coming to worship. That’s when our relationship to St. Peter’s really became something tangible.”
