People know St. Peter’s Episcopal Church by our open minds and open arms. By our strong voice. By our care for the marginalized. By our sacred, historic home. Most of all, people know us by our love. For almost two centuries, we’ve sought to serve and to be a spark of the divine. We believe that God is always calling us forward, as people and as a parish. The Campaign for St. Peter’s will underwrite the next chapter of needs, hopes and dreams at our beloved church. Let us rise to our particular moment in time while ever more deeply grounded in the eternal.
All Glory to God
A multi-generational current of love runs through St. Peter’s, and creates a deep sense of belonging for everyone who comes through our doors. Together, we share a common history. We welcome the stranger. We are the hands, feet, and mind of Christ in the world. Organizations key to our region’s wellbeing trace their roots to St. Peter’s: Atrium Health, Roof Above, Thompson Child and Family Focus among them. Our youth and children’s formation programs have shaped generations. Our legendary choral programs have been making joyful music since the 1920’s. Our doors and our hearts have always been, and remain, open. Still, God calls us to more.

Call and Response
In 2034, St. Peter’s will celebrate its 200th anniversary. As we prepare for this significant milestone, we are recommitting to the important role we play in our urban home, and readying ourselves to build on our legacy of service to the Charlotte community through worship, music, fellowship, formation, outreach and community engagement, and the arts. We are addressing the needs of the present, and preparing for the needs of the future as we answer God’s call from our unique location in a dynamic, rapidly changing city.
Like the visionaries who founded St. Peter’s in 1834, those who launched outreach initiatives at the turn of the last century, the leaders who opened our doors to a diverse community, and the people who built our renowned music program and our outstanding programs for children and youth, we have an opportunity to create excellence, beauty, and community in a new way.
This is our time.
A Prayer for Our Time
Abundant God, in whom we live and move and have our being, for nearly two centuries your Holy Spirit has inspired each generation at St. Peter’s to be a beacon of your Love in the world. Bless us, we pray, with a spirit of generosity, that our actions may reflect our common calling, for the good of this generation and for generations to come. This we ask in the name of the one holy and undivided Trinity, now and forever. Amen.
Planned Capital Investments
A renovated chancel and altar platform, restored to its historical intention, with imagery and accessibility that honors our strategic planning and therefore the commitment to diversity and inclusion that lies at the heart of our calling.
Renovations to the Parclose Chapel, which is currently where our altar servers sit and where the piano is housed, to make space for an architecturally crafted ramp that makes the altar accessible to everyone.
The addition of two new stained glass windows to the Parclose Chapel ramp, providing beauty and light to the new sacred space.
Renovations to the Chapel of All Saints, making it a distinct sacred space and giving our existing mosaic a new home as a defining feature.

Repair and renovation to the spaces used by our youth and music programs, addressing the safety and capacity of our basement.
